Bukmuk

Hello, author.
This is your page.

We publish books written by young authors, not for them, by them. Use this form to send us your story. We'll edit it the way a careful friend would: only enough to keep the reader from getting stuck, and never enough to change your voice.

01  The deal

We keep your voice.

Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, the way your dadi says it. We don't iron out the way you write.

02  What you need

About twenty minutes.

Your story, a few questions, a clear photo (if you want one). A grown-up signs off at the end.

03  What happens next

An editor writes back.

Within a fortnight you'll hear from a real human. Light edits only. We always ask before changing anything.

Folio i / ix
Section  I. About you

Who are you,
and where are you writing from?

Tell us the way you'd tell a friend you just met. The way you actually talk is the way we want to publish you.

We need a name to publish under.

We use this to ask the right kind of questions later. Honestly.

Tap your age.

Printed only if your grown-up ticks the city consent box later. Otherwise we keep it for ourselves.

Just the city or town is fine.
A few lines about you, please.
Choose how you'd like your name to appear.

The name that will appear on the cover. You can change it later if you want.

Pen name can't be empty if you picked one.
❋   ❋   ❋
Folio ii / ix
Section  II. Photo & drawing (optional)

A face, and maybe a drawing.

If you'd like a photo of you printed at the back of the book, share one. If you've drawn something for the story, share that too. Both optional.

❋   ❋   ❋
Folio iii / ix
Section  III. Your story

Now the important bit.

Paste it, type it, dictate it to a grown-up. Write it exactly how you want it printed. We don't restructure sentences, we don't swap your words for "better" ones.

Even a working title is fine.
Word count  0 / 30 minimum
Your story needs at least 30 words.

So our typesetter doesn't "correct" them. Add as many as you like.

One or two lines is enough.
❋   ❋   ❋
Folio iv / ix
Section  IV. Behind the scenes

The making-of.

For the bonus pages at the back of the book. Tell us how the writing actually went, in your own words. Skip if you'd rather not.

❋   ❋   ❋
Folio v / ix
Section  V. A few questions for the back pages

Author Q & A.

The set of questions you see here depends on your age. Tap your age first, then answer the ones that feel right. Blank stays blank.

Pick your age above to see the questions tailored to you.

❋   ❋   ❋
Folio vi / ix
Section  VI. Fun facts (optional)

A few quick ones.

These go into the "About the Author" page at the back. Fill whichever feel right. Skip the rest.

❋   ❋   ❋
Folio vii / ix
Section  VII. Dedication & thanks (optional)

Who do you want to thank?

A dedication is a one-liner at the top of your story. Acknowledgements are a few lines at the back. Both optional.

❋   ❋   ❋
Folio viii / ix
Section  VIII. Last words from you

Anything for the editor?

If there's something a grown-up should know , a sensitive bit, a part you'd rather we not change, a reason the story is short , tell us here. Then your last question: do you want this in the book?

Pick one, it's your call.
Folio ix / ix  ·  Guardian
Section  IX. For the grown-up
Parent & guardian sign-off  ·  required

Now your turn.

This is the bit your child can't fill in for you. Please read each line; tick only what you actually agree to. Bukmuk publishes children's work on public platforms (including Amazon), so the consent has to be specific. You can request withdrawal any time before publication.

Your full name, please.
Mother, father, guardian, etc.
A valid email so we can write back.
Phone number, please.
A typed signature matters legally; please type your name.

We have your story.

An editor will write back within a fortnight. We'll share what we'd like to edit, and we'll always ask before changing anything. Until then, save this reference if you need to write to us about it.
